I have used UHT milk for over 25 years, the last 20 outside UK but even in UK used UHT as our milk usage varied depending on if we had cheese sauce, hot chocolate etc. UHT is so easy to store and you need never run out. Both my girls brought up on UHT and no problems except when family come from UK and say milk tastes funny. You get used to it very quickly.
You can't go wrong with it.
ps I use UHT from local co op so still support local farmers0 -
Is uht better for you than normal milk.i wouldnt think so but i could be wrong.
What price your childrens health.
I buy 4 pints of normal milk for £1from supermarket . What is this 53p you mention.
I lost teeth in early adult hood and dentist blamed diet in early life.
Blamed lack of calcium. I also developed osteoporosis early 40 s.
Apart from that, it tates horrible in tea.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
yes its sweeter but using it in stuff so boys dont notice breakfast i just boil the milk for weetabix porridge honestly dont think im going back to normal.
same with bread going back to plain cause warbutons lets be honest to dear for a chip butty0 -

On asda's website a 4 pint of fresh semi skimmed works out at 48p a litre, UHT semi skimmed (500ml size) works out at £1.08 a litre so I suppose it depends on where you live and where you buy your milk. As UHT is more than twice the price, I wouldn't swap.0

If you're happy changing to UHT, then it's really nobody else's business except yours.
And if you're doing it because it's cheaper (I have no idea if it is or isn't) then that's that.
On a personal note, I use full fat milk (blue top). We don't have a lot of coffee/tea each day.
I buy semi-skimmed milk for my porridge that I have probably 4 times a week.
I wouldn't buy UHT as I dislike the taste.0 -
We always have a carton of the emergency milk in.
It is not as cheap as fresh milk at 25p a pint.0 -
UHT milk is fine, the only reason not to use it is taste.
However I agree that it is not necessarily cheaper, check out your options. And if you have freezer space, buy when reduced and freeze.0 -
Where are you shopping that UHT milk is 53p a litre and fresh is £1.40 a litre? They're both around the same price per litre in Tesco/Morrisons/Iceland etc., Sainsbury's UHT is more expensive than fresh.
IMO anything that has been the least interfered is best, especially as UHT milk is lower in vits B1, B2, B3, B12, A and C. I wouldn't give it to my children on a regular basis but no harm in having it in the cupboard as an emergency supply.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
