need advice on calculations

 just need some advice..
got statement and in numerous places same statement pops up..
i.e
on 22/08/2001 your liability changed from £35.59 to nil, effective from 20/02/2001.
period covered by change=20/02/2001-24/08/2001=186days@£39.59 minus nil divided by 7 £39.59/7= £5.6557 x 186 days = £1051.96 overcharge
this statement is repeated about 8 times on my statement but dates change or are same but show £ undercharge:confused::confused:
any advice welcome:beer:

• additional info...
undercharge for period 25/11/2003 to 30/08/2004. this was not included in the 'adjustments made due to a change in liability' section on the old system breakdown as the changes were not calculated until 12/10/2005. during this period the case was charged at£3.50 and should have been charged at £42.62, a difference of £39.12 over 280 days. therefore dailyrate = £39.12 divided by 7 =£5.5886 x 280= £1564.81undercharge
all this sounds like bulls@@t to me..
as previously said i got refund 14/07/2004 and statement of arrears were nil.
the csa have a copy of this but still they come out withthis !!!!..
anysuggestions.
if anyone wants a copy of my statements please pm me and i will email you them.
• you obviously have an arrears breakdown, which can be very complicated to read. you need to compare the dates of the charges made to the account before then looking at the adjustments. You will see that one assessment will have charged to a certain date, but then if the amount altered, there will be an adjustment listed as either an overcharge or undercharge.

for example in your first post you mention that there were 186 charged at #39.59 when in fact you should have paid nil...hence there was an overcharge on your account.
• yes but how can they say i should have paid x amount of £ extra 2 years down the line when all calculations are done( were) in 2004???
because i got refund for overpayment??
• not sure i follow you exactly....but full breakdowns can seem to calculate debt in a very different set of figures to anything you may have had in the past.
• The breakdown will show what you were charged as regular maintenance at the time when you were charged it.
If there were changes subsequently and backdated then they will create a schedule to show how much you had been charged and how much you should have paid (either over or under)
You should get fairly close to the full amount you were charged by creating a schedule on excel which lists the effective assessments.

Your original post shows that a case officer wiped out the £35.59 assessment (reduced to nil) which created the overcharge. However a parallel assessment should be shown from the same date, so it would be (for example only) £0.00 to £49.00 = 186days @ £7 = £1302 undercharge, which means your net arrears for the period are about £250.

You got a refund at the time because you had overpaid, but this new assessment recalculated that and put you in arrears through no fault of your own, but the CSA will not care about that, just that the arrears are owed.

You can ask for an interview if you feel it would help you work through the figures, or if you disagree with them, check the calculations, and the payments shown.

If your case isn't that old, you can also ask for any account statements to be reissued to you, which are CSA 855N's. These can be easier to follow where you got into arrears.
Nothing to see here
