Working 42 hours per week.. holiday entitlement?

I’ve been in my job for 12 years now, full time, 40 hours per week and they give us 28 days holiday by accumulating 1.5 days per month. But Said company takes all bank holidays off that, including two days during Witson week where everyone else still works - yet our place shuts (not employees choice).. we also have to take 5, sometimes 6 days away from the 28 for a week off over Christmas (again only 3 of these are bank holidays - Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
Basically we end up with a hell of a lot less than the 28 days, almost half. I speak to other people at other company’s and they get a full 28 days to take when they want. Nobodys ever questioned my company, should I?
Thanks:j

Your employer can tell you when to take your holidays so telling you that you have to use holidays for specific dates is totally legal.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

28 days is minimum entitlement and they can include public holidays if they want to. Some do, some dont.0

That would be a great idea!Andyprussell wrote: »Thanks all! I shan’t kick up a fuss on Monday now!
There are other practices, and better leave entitlements. So you may want to start looking for another job. But just remember that holiday isn't the whole picture - look before you leap!0
