Hi
I am hoping to one day be able to afford to get married! I have been going through lots of wedding website but none of the websites give a cost estimate for even the basic package. Has anyone here used a wedding coordinator in italy and how much was the cost!
Thanks

Hi all
What experience do you have of wedding planners abroad?Happy to be happy0 -
My friend got married in Italy. She organised it all herself. Shes pretty well off tho so she didnt do it herself to save money, it was just easy enough to do it. She went over for a weekend to find places and then pretty much organised everything by email.

i got married in lake garda just over a year ago with lakegardaweddings.com they were fantastic i had a completely bespoke wedding in a 13th century castle over the looking the lake and the cost of the wedding planner including all the legal administration and the hire of the castle/mayor for the ceremony was about £1000. NO more than the main package holiday operators charge and this was a personalised service including two visits before the weddign to scope out venues. pm if you want more info.0

Hi,
I too would like to get married abroad and had thought of Rome as one of the places. Again I found it difficult to look at planners fees and when trying to find out information for myself found this quite time consuming. If you find anything out or if anyone lese has any useful websites etc could you please let me know? Most sites give an overview but not much useful information for planning a wedding yourself.
Thanks.0 -
Not sure if this article helps - but here you go anyway:

Also - there is also this interview with a girl who did get married in Italy:

Hi again,
Just in case you are thinking about planning the wedding yourself I think this is also possible and not too difficult, depending on what type of wedding/service you want to have.
For any type of wedding you need to complete certain paperwork but apparently can't start doing this until 6 months before the wedding and no later than 4 months before.
You might find this useful:
http://www.wedding-in-rome.com/guidance.htm
I also found this on the British Emabassy website:
'Where both parties are resident in the UK they may give notice to a UK Superintending Registrar in the district where they are resident. The Consular office in whose district the marriage is to take place will issue the "Certificates of no Impediment" required by the local authorities.'
If you go to:
http://www.britishembassy.gov.uk/ser...=1056116914981
you can find some more information on documentary requirements and there is also a link there relating to charges for services and some links at the bottom with marriage agencies and English speaking churches etc.
Hope this is of help. I too am trying to plan a wedding abroad - hopefully Italy or New York but I am only in the initial stages of planning. If you find anything more useful can you please let me know, it would be a great help.
Thanks

Hi there,
I am getting married in Italy in September 2008 near Florence in Tuscany in a castle, and since we were on a tight budget we weren't going to go with the wedding planner route, especially as I saw how much they were charging! but after trying to contact suppliers and services it was quite difficult to get answers from some of them unless you speak italian or know your way around to get the best contacts.
We then came across a fantastic planner, and after much email conversation decided to go on an easyjet cheap flight to Pisa to go to Florence and meet with them. They showed us round venues, (that otherwise we would not have even found on our own) took us to caterers, florists, photographers, everything! It was great, saved us time and they translated everything, all our wishes, our budgets, exactly what we wanted. And the price was extremely reasonable. To be honest just as much as if we had paid out for a hire car ourselves - but they picked us up, organised an itinerary and did everything for us. The price for the planner in totaly is probably a quarter of what other planners are charging.
Now we're back in the Uk with it all pretty much booked and organised and stress free. You don't have to go out there if you don't want to, as they can send you pics etc and recommend places, and to be honest everywhere is gorgeous, but we wanted to.
I would totally recommend my planner if you want any more information about getting married in Tuscany. Her name is Pia on info@invitoscana.it0 -
Just as an update to my last post, everything is going swimmingly, and I have no idea how I would be able to do this without a planner, particularly in Tuscany. Through her, i've got some great deals on photographers, catering, everything really and its all going well. Plus I email her constantly with questions and I get prompt replies and services.
The thing I like is that if you contacted a venue directly, and say for example they said it was 800 euros, then I asked my wedding planner how much it would be, she would say 800 euros! So I like the fact its the same price, and she makes her money by bringing people to the services and venues so they give her a discount, so essentially making her money from them, not from me! Which is great, as I need all the money I can for my wedding! I don't know many planners who work like this, so am happy I found her!0 -
We are unable to get out there this year and have decided to try to sell this on as we've been told we are unable to get any refund on it.
It's a fantastic location in Italy, a civil service at Positano town hall, which overlooks the sea. The wedding will take place on Friday 9th July at 12pm - which is very hot and sunny there at that time :-)
We have a balance of 495 Euro on there, with a remaining amount of around 900 Euros to be paid by June. We are selling this for just £150 all because we can not get a refund and we'd rather not lose all our money.
We have this booked via Sonia Gallina from weddingitaly.com who are fantastic and very helpful. She has agreed we can sell this on but we can provide copies of our contracts, emails and of course, you can call/email/fax/visit Sonia to confirm this is all okay.
If interested please email stephenjohnnelson@hotmail.com
Thanks

Awww, Bernie sorry you can't make it as planned. I can vouch for the venue - the reason we chose it is because of that view!
We are getting married there in 10 weeks :eek:0
