Gino says we don't know how to eat pasta. Being Italian I'm guessing he's right and this is what he says in the Telegraph.
"A lot of ignorant, stupid people are saying that pasta makes you fat.
How can someone say that, when Italian people have the best diet in the world and eat pasta every day
My answer to those morons is, pasta is not bad for you. What is bad for you is how much pasta you eat and what you put on your pasta.
Mr D'Acampo said British diners often shared a 500g (1lb 1oz) packet of pasta which would feed four people in Italy, between two. People in Britain added large amounts of fatty ingredients such as cheese."
I agree with him. On a packet of pasta it tells you how much per person, usually about 80gm, and in a bolognese you can use 55gm of mince per person to make a meal. You don't need more unless you want to be fat.
So well done Gino for speaking up!

No, not well done.
To critisize his customers and potential customers and call them
Ignorant stupid morons, well, words fail me....
What a plank...make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Now, I am a large lady with a very healthy appetite, and pasta is one of my favourite foods; I even entered a spagbol eating competition when I was about 20 years old. But I would not be to eat 250g (dry weight) of pasta with any kind of sauce. Our 500g pack of pasta generally feeds five adults, so 100g each, and I know that's a lot.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I remember having pasta served every day in an Italian hotel- and it was basically pasta (different varities) with very little sauce, absolutely nothing like our spag bol.
I love lasagne- but the rest I can happily leave!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I like Gino.
But he's probably upset a few people with his choice of words, although I do agree that anyone who eats 250gm of pasta is pretty stupid.
We have about 125gm of dried pasta between 2 of us.0 -
Yes, but does it matter? Its his personal opinion. I like a fair bit of pasta with my meals but 250mg is a huge amount, I'm not sure how someone would gobble that amount down.
But does it really really matter what he says? It makes me laugh more than anything.0 -

I don't automatically believe everything I read in the media.
I guess it doesn't really matter what he says, but it's no different to any minor sleb pontificating in the media about any subject under the sun.0 -
Do you have a link please? I can't find the article.
Without reading the article, it's hard to know what the context was.

Of course, there are a lot of people who will eat a double sized portion of pasta and then complain about their metabolism.
"I eat healthy dishes such as pasta and salad every day and cant lose weight but my friend eats massive pizzas and is skinny"......0
