John Lewis - Out of stock

There's an item I want from John Lewis but the website says it's out of stock and the buy button is greyed out.
If I send a friend into the Oxford Street branch will they sell it to her and then deliver when available OR do John Lewis not allow orders on out of stock items?
Am not in the country at the moment and getting any sort of information is tricky.
Thanks

It may be out of stock on the website but could be in stock in the Oxford Street store - get her to ring them and check. They will also be able to confirm if they can order one for you pending a further delivery/when (of if) further supplies are likely to be available.0

I have phoned JL stores and they have sent the item on to me for minimal charge. If your friend is able to buy, could they do that and post onward?0
