People in the comments are saying they win loads too. These are the people that are winning all the prizes when we are not.

They're probably the ones entering all the Facebook and Twitter competitions. :D

Actually she hasn't done that well. She says she has on £5000 worth of prizes since she started. This was before the birth of her daughter as her big win was a £1200 pram. The kid now looks about 4 or 5. So apart from the pram she has won £3800 worth of stuff over 4 years say.

Maybe I should let the newt pass on some tips to her as we have done better than that.

'Looking at her list of prizes there's nothing of interest to me there.'

That's what I thought too, I don't enter for anything if it's going to cost me money to use it.

I still wouldn't say no to a new touring caravan and something to pull it even though it would cost me money to use them ;)

Be prepared for "I have entered 10 competitions and not won" :(

At least she says not to enter for things you don't want as other may want it :T

You know, I actually have a bit more respect for her than some of the others that have gone to the papers, all because of her top tips.
I think that she has got that bit right.
The 10 comps a day comment is a bit daft though. We are going to get a new wave of newbies coming in complaining. Ho-hum

Did this happen about the same time last year, just before the Advents started?

I think both parts are true if you enter 10 competitions per day you will eventually win........That eventually could be in 10 years time if you're lucky :rotfl:

She does say she spends half an hour a day comping on her commute... so perhaps the fairest comparison is value of prizes per number of hours spent comping. There are probably people here who spend a couple of hours a day (even if while doing something else) comping and get no luck. Plus - do you measure by value of prizes or number of wins? This lady has apparently won a lot of designer jewellery - which is great if she likes it but there's possibly a discrepancy between the "value" of what it was priced at and the "value" to her and the "value" if she wanted/needed to sell it on.

Prizes that cost you to use them.... Holidays without flights/ events without travel is the good example. I suppose it depends on whether you wanted one or not anyway e.g. if you wanted/planned to go to a festival and were already saving for tickets - then winning tickets is a good deal; if you had a budget of £X for a holiday but were flexible about location then winning your accommodation is a good deal if you can then get the travel costs within your existing budget.

But I have to agree with not entering if you (or someone in your family & friends) have absolutely no use for the prize. I gather some people do enter with every intention of immediately selling on - but I'd reckon that only works with a prize of significant value that is easily saleable. Yes - I have won books and DVDs which then went on eBay after one read/view but I wouldn't enter for e.g. a load of baby stuff just to sell it.

Cars on the other hand... That's probably worth the entry and a one-way rail ticket to collect even if I'm going straight to webuyanycardotcom with it next weekend. (OK - I realise some of you couldn't do that because it requires an outlay of some hundreds of pounds for a profit of some thousands a month later.)
I need to think of something new here...
  • I've entered literally thousand of times on Twitter alone and only won ONE Twitter comp. ONE
