I have just had my mortgage offer from nationwide and in the special conditions it says "this offer is issued on the understanding that the following commitments will be paid on or before completion of this loan :- credit card with Halifax bank with an approximate balance of £1000"
When I applied for the Dip I put my outstanding credit card totals of 8500 and in the line below it asked how much I would pay off which I put £1000. On the actual application it asked me which card I'd pay £1000 off asking the monthly payment followed by how much I'd pay off. At no point in my application display it ask for each card total and the ballance on my Halifax card is £2500.
Can anyone advise me on what all this means.

Yes. It means you have to reduce the balance on your Halifax card by £1,000 as you said you would.I am a mortgage broker. Yes you most certainly would have keyed this.
Did you apply online yourself? It would have been towards the end under existing credit cards and wouldn't let you proceed without saying the full £1000 would be cleared.
So for example if you said £500 was being cleared off Halifax, it wouldn't let you proceed until you said the other £500 would be cleared from X.
If this is incorrect contact Nationwide in the morning0
