Hi All,
I just posted a link to this in the techie forum, but seeing as its a good deal, I thought it only polite to post here as well - hope thats OK!!!
For those who aren't too geeky, Kaspersky is one of the 'best' antivirus programs around - hourly database updates and a very high detection rate, especially compared to Norton, McAfee etc. See the link below to amazon.co.uk web page:
1 years subscription, 3 users: £18
I don't know exactly how the licence works, but if you buy a triple user licence and only install it on one machine I can't imagine you are breaking the licence... so save yourself £12. Also, if you have more than one machine in the house - this is an absolute deal breaker, surely?!!!
Hope this is useful for someone, and sorry about the cross-type-post!

It's an excellent antivirus package, for the safety and security that this package brings you can't go wrong, especially if you use the internet and download alot.
I bought this last time Amazon were doing this offer. The licences last for a year, but I guess theres nothing to stop you using one after the other when each expires if you only need the 1 licence.
No doubt some people will say how much such and such antivirus is better than this one - but dont be fooled, this one has won many awards and is very well respected as one of the leading packages.0 -
This is version 7 you're getting - it's got to be the best value commercial antivirus around especially if you have more than one system. You can also get the full security suite for £37 (there's a link on the Amazon page) which gives you antispam, antispyware & firewall as well, again for 3 licences. Just a small comparison with another AV - Norton checks for updates once a week, Kaspersky checks every hour! Also, you can help your friends because it provides an option to create a rescue disk that can be created & used to scan any other system if they're having problems - definite brownie points ;-)0

Does it slow down the computer? I've found with McAfee and Norton this is a big problem, AVG is a nightmare, even starting up the computer takes forever and a day.:A

On my laptpop I barely notice it at all, but this obviously depends on exactly what hardware you have - especially memory and processor. It would be really hard to predict exactly what the performace 'knock' would be, but it does have a reputation as being a program that does not drag your whole computer down (unlike some massive resource hogging programs like Norton).Does it slow down the computer? Kaspersky AV has options for allowing a 'system area' scan on boot, after boot or not at all, which could help keep things quick on a slower PC. It also has a 'proactive' defence that looks for virus-like activity that is an unkown virus - this can be turned off and may help reduce possible performance hit.
Hope that helps!

I think it uses the lowest resources of all the scanners
Nope, that would be Eset Nod32. It's excellent and very very fast.
Check out http://www.virusbtn.com/resources/overview/index.xml for info on virus scanners.
