Mortgage technical error took more money than agreed? Advice?

Hi ladies and gents,

Looking for advice....

My bank I'm through for my mortgage took an extra £20 than the normal agreement amount and when I phoned to enquire, I was told it was a technical error. I have asked it to be investigated but was told this would be investigated and used for training but no further information would be provided to me other than the fact it was a "technical error"

The problem is this has left me feeling a little wary that this will happen again! It left me overdrawn on my account which I luckily have not been charged for due to it only being £6 overdrawn but what's to say this technical error won't happen again?

I was told to find out if I have been charged for the overdraft then I can raise a complaint if this is the case.

What does the fine advisors of MSE think? Think I should call up and complain or draw it up to an experience?

Thanks in advance,

Kaz x:(

Assuming you haven't been charged any fees - what exactly are you wanting to happen ?

If they are going to use it as a training example, that would imply human error at some point, which you can never eliminate entirely.

You can move banks but i couldnt guarantee it wouldnt happen with them.

Mistakes happen, they get rectified and you move on. It can be that easy.
  • It's not that I'm looking for compensation, I'm more concerned that it could happen again with a larger amount. I'm not very technical minded so pardon my ignorance but does it not mean that someone has been meddling with my account for it to be changed? It has always been set at the same amount?

    Thanks for your responses

With any error in life, no-one can ever promise it won't happen again.

It was a minor issue that there is no point going over the top for.

But it hasn't, so I'm not sure what you're expecting they should do. You can't complain about a mistake which they haven't actually made.

Seems unlikely. Why would anyone want to randomly increase the payment from your current account to your mortgage account?
  • I am going to disagree with the posts above and say you should raise a complaint and technical reason is too vague. Have they offered to reimburse?
