really down, cannot get a job

a very good friend of mine ran a catering business which went bust - catering was all she had ever known - she decided that she wanted to do something different and chose an admin career, however she didn't have the experience required for the jobs she fancied so she came to us as a volunteer, to gain the experience required - the boss paid her "travelling and other expenses" out of petty cash - it wasn't a huge amount but it covered her bus fares and meals and it didn't interfere with her benefits either
She settled in very well and became a very valuable member of the team (and we became very good friends too) - she's now got a great job with a well-known insurance company and is thoroughly enjoying life
GOOD LUCK to all those looking for employment0 -
Hey Bird-Brain, I'm in exactly the same boat as you. And it's tough. Very tough. I know where you are coming from, re; the HMV job. The loons at the job centre offered me a job sticking labels onto ready meals at the minimum wage - even after I told them about my skill set\experience.0
