Civil service pre-employment checks.

Hi all,

I was recently offered a provisional job as an admin officer with the DWP. I was pleased with this of course and wasted no time in filling out the online criminal records check, references and the various forms.

It is the forms in which I have seem to have come unstuck.

I initially shared the character enquiry, pension questionnaire and DWP health declaration forms in a .PDF format, received a confirmation of receipt e-mail on the day and then 2 days later I received the reply:
"Good Afternoon,
Unfortunately, we cannot open your documents in a OneDrive format. Please resend these in a Microsoft word format or PDF.
Kind Regards,"

I sent them off in a word format and received the same message.

I then shared the documents straight from the word files individually and waited for a favourable result. This time I received:
"Unfortunately we cannot access the onedrive site due to our network blocking it. Could you resend your forms as .doc or .pdf and email it to cabinetoffice.gov.uk?

After pulling out every last one of my hairs, I sent each document in several formats on Saturday 18/11/2017 but haven't received an email of confirmation or a response as of today 21/11/2017.

Has anybody else been in this position and what did they do? Any help would be appreciated as these things can take long enough as it is!

Are you sending a link accidentally pointing them to your onedrive rather than the actual document?
Save them to a different area of you harddrive than your onedrive folder as a .doc and attach them to your email from there.
Officially in a clique of idiots
  • Thanks for the reply.

That's what I did the first couple of times. I saved the documents in a folder called "DWP evidence forms" and attached the documents from there before sending.

Do you know of a phone number I can call them on?

I am thinking of calling the cabinet office also.

Your settings may mean that any documents (and folders) are automatically saved to your OneDrive. You need to look at the full address when selecting which files to upload.

I wouldn't call them, they can't help you with your IT issue. Is there someone that can look over how you're sending it?
  • I didn't save it to my OneDrive I saved it to my A:/ drive. I only shared it with them directly from my files when they said they couldn't access the files via the usual method.

I hardly ever save files on clouds, I save them locally as I have several hard drives which in themselves are partitioned for different uses and I like to be able to read documents when offline.

I'll send the files off to others to see if they can read them or not, that is a good idea.

I don't wish to call them so they can help me out with an IT issue, it's to see if the cabinet office email system received the files or not because they might not have an automated "received file" notification system.
  • I've just checked my login online and it says:

"We'd like to make you a provisional job offer.
We're conducting some pre-employment checks before we make you a formal offer.
We'll contact you when we have finished these."

For the life of me I can't remember if it said that before but I don't think that it did.

Can anybody remember if their status changed to this once all the documents were in?
