Basically, my OH has applied for a mortgage and been declined due to late payments for British Gas account dating back to 2012 (which have an update for each month since February 2012 showing 6 late payment flag). As we are in Scotland, the debt is now statute barred, he has never received any notification of this debt and BG have made no attempt to contact him regarding it. They state their last correspondence sent was in March 2012. We are being evicted from our private rental property as our LL is selling and this mortgage was our ticker to a secure home for our family.
OH has tonight emailed BG complaints team, not acknowledging debt, but appealing to their (hopeful) decency and asking if there is a mutually beneficial agreement we could come to in order that they remove derogatory status which would allow his mortgage app through.
Any help would be very much appreciated, we really don't fancy being homeless!
Thanks

February 2018 it will drop off naturally anyway.

I don't know if it will 'drop off' though, it's still being updated every month with the 6 late payment flag.
Also, we are due to be evicted on boxing day so time really is of the essence, having had an offer accepted on a house we really wanted to get through it all ASAP0
