I am partially disabled and get my shopping delivered by Tesco. I have noticed that when ordering online and paying by debit card that Tesco 'charge' £2 to 'check' my debit card as my account is not debited until the day of delivery - fair enough.
What I have clocked on to though is the £2 is 'frozen' in my bank account ie, although a small amount it is not earning interest for me, and 6 days later is still 'frozen' in my Barclays account. This appears to be happening every time I shop online with Tesco. Anyone experienced similar?

A common practice but £2 seems excessive. ASDA reserves just 1p.
ETA Although I see only 1p reserved other have reported having £1 reserved.0 -
ASDA reserved £1 the last time I shopped with them.
£2 for me I think although it could of been £1I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. £1 here too, and it's the same for their card-only petrol stations IME. No matter how much I put in, only £1 is debited until the full payment is processed which is normally a few working days later.0

It is definitely 1p for me (though I thought it used to be more).
I have an annual delivery pass and each order is always close to the £40 minimum. I don't know if that makes any difference.0
