How To Get Creases Out Of Rug

Options
Bought a nice rug from Ebay which was folded up when I bought it. It's been lying flat in my hall for about a month now but still appears really crumpled. I've tried a warm iron but to no avail. Can't afford to buy a carpet cleaner or similar. Any ideas out there?

You could roll it up with a damp towel swiss roll fashion and then leave it in a bin bag for an hour or two, then unroll it and put it under even weight (between two dry towels under the mattress?) or give the iron another go. The rug should be very slightly damp, but hopefully enough for either of these two methods to have more effect.
  • Sorry should have said rug is 6ft x 5ft !
