    Correct, in past I've increased pension payments to rescue tax allowance and will likely do the same this tax year.

    As to a 'normal' amount of pension contributions, this would depend on a number of factors, age, planned retirement age and what level of pension you want.

    To put it into perspective I earn a third of what you do but more money goes into my pension pot per month (in cash terms) than yours but like I said it depends on your goals.
