Correct, in past I've increased pension payments to rescue tax allowance and will likely do the same this tax year.

As to a 'normal' amount of pension contributions, this would depend on a number of factors, age, planned retirement age and what level of pension you want.

To put it into perspective I earn a third of what you do but more money goes into my pension pot per month (in cash terms) than yours but like I said it depends on your goals.

unless that BB line is wholly and exclusively a second line used only for business then it is more likely you are actually having to pay tax on that "compensation" since contribution to home BB for an employee is not an eligible expense and is actually additional taxable income for you
