I can see these would be popular with many people (my husband, for instance) but delivery is Feb 2018 and then only if the project reaches it's goal of receiving pledges totalling £25.000 to cover funding by Tue, December 26 2017 - if I've read that correctly, that is.

I agree. Delivery is in Feb 18, so feasible only if you can wait. £25k I am sure will be easily met considering some of the other stuff I have seen on Kickstarter getting into millions.

Yes agree, it is a risk you take on Kick Starter. I have been lucky till now but looking at the news not every one has the same fate.

I've pledged, it seems a good product.

Novo are an existing company and they already use their app and hub to control AC units, so it's not all new tech, I'm confident they'll deliver. They've said they'll offer more units later at the same rate at which you've pledged, so personally I would buy a small amount and get more later after their kickstarter stage with the normal guarantees and protections, if all works out.
