Coupons in local free newspapers

Would be very interested in hearing what coupons people get in their free local newspapers - perhaps we could do a thread like the try me free hunt?

We only get one free local newspapers and being off the beaten track we very rarely get any coupons through the door. But when I hear that someone has had a coupon through the door I email the company to tell them how sad and disappointed I feel not to have had the same coupon as everyone else.

I emailed the contact page on the Uncle Bens to say how disappointed I was to miss out on the coupons that were in some peoples free local newspapers and they sent me a £1 coupon and a pack of Uncle Bens express rice. I sent the same message to Dolmio and they sent me £2 in coupons. So it does pay to email firms and see what sort of response you get.

Not sure wether this is the correct forum to put this so please can someone move it if I am in the wrong place.

I've never had much success with the Boots helpline so I always write to them. And I only write if I have a genuine complaint, always polite and I give them all the details, days, times etc.

The first time I wrote was because our Boots is actually in two shops so you can only buy some of your shopping in one store and then you treck across the road for the rest of your list. As a result you dont get the vouchers like the spend £10 get a £5 skincare voucher that was on recently because they are only issued on total spends. Even if you show them your two receipts that add up to over £10 they will not relent. On that occassion they added 500 points to my Boots Advantage card.

Recently I tried to redeem the Boots Body Science free foot cream voucher but our local Boots was out of stock of all products in the range for weeks on end. I also tried our next nearest Boots, again no stock. So I wrote to them and they sent me a £5 gift card.

Might be an idea to write next time Boots send you into melt down

I've moved this over to the Vouchers board. There is a thread on here suggesting lots of sites that responded to emails by sending out vouchers.
