  • That sounds like you are really serious about this and have a great plan to do it. I don't know if I could be so focused. It seems things always come up and get in the way of a long term plan like that for me. I guess I just need to stick with the plan.

    Hi Jason, nice of you to say hello !!!55357;!!!56832; i guess I keep motivated because Im working towards something i really want, I hope i can keep the motivation high for a number of years because... well once the wedding is over, and we start a family our outgoings will probably increase (as to be expected with little ones) but added to that our mortgage is rather large ( ok i'll admit it is currently just less than £310k... god thats scary to write down!), we love our home though so it'll be worth it, but getting the mortgage down will be the next goal, lots of motivation required for a long time! I love reading diaries on here though, especially the ones that have been going for years, you get to see peoples hard work paying off as those numbers reduce.... fabulous!!! !!!55357;!!!56832;

    Dear Diary,

    What a hectic month it’s been!

    Wedding savings- 100% achieved (thanks to the remainder of inheritance received full budget saved!). We’re still looking online for a photographer and to be honest the sooner we get that sorted the better, as I think it’s a chunk of money that I’d just like to have allocated.
    Mat savings- I’m 40% there, (£3225/8000) I tilly tidy my other accounts into this one, share money will go in there too and once the student loan is clear that money will be diverted into this pot as well
    Student loan- I think it’s about £3000 & as I’ve said before I want this out of the way! So I’m currently sending overpayments to get it shifted sooner.

    On a day by day basis, I think I could try harder with making lunches and bringing in to work, I think I’m achieving possibly 50% of the time, so I can improve that. On other items I think I’m doing well, my monthly spreadsheet tallies up and I can account for everything, I do think that I’ll need to buy some new vest tops soon though as the ones I have are old and tatty- they are an everyday item- so use as a base layer in winter as well as using for summer, so I don’t mind having to refresh them every now and then, maybe I’ll go and get some new ones just before we go away for the weekend at the end of June.

    It’s the OH birthday in July so will be spending for that, but at least this time I know what he wants (he’s usually very hard to buy for!)

    Back to work! And hoping for an early finish to go and enjoy the sunshine!!!
