From about 20 years ago up until about 15 years back, if I needed a suit, I just used to hack along to Armani or Cerrutti and buy another black or grey one. Although overpriced, I didn't have that much else I needed to spend money on, if you avoided the sales it was a fuss-free experience, and they had a size that fitted me perfectly right off the peg. If M&S had had the same, I'd have shopped there.
The last such suit I bought was about £550. I was shocked today to find that they are now around the £900 mark and you're normally looking at extra because they leave the trouser legs unfinished. This means they have gone up by a disgusting 64%.
This is all the work of Carney and of evil greedy boomers. They are cornering the market by buying more than one suit. The prices should still be those of 15 or 20 years ago, which were right and fair. It's today's prices that aren't. And look how small and shoddy these new-build suits are - tiny undersize jackets and no room for storing anything.
We need a suit price crash and we need it now. I am f***ing entitled and you are all going to gimme.

If you learn to sew you can turn the trouser legs up yourself. Instant savings and helps in case of loss of buttons as well.0

You need to learn to cut your cloth to suit your pocket. If all you can afford today is a shiney suit from George then accept that.0

In my experience "designer" suits are a false economy as they made in the same factories as the ones from Moss, SuitDirect etc and the only difference between an Armani one at £900 and a Racing Green one at £200 is the label inside.
In fact, most suits are made on licensing agreements at the same factories. So if you shop around, you can get the same Armani suit (same lining and everything) for less without it having Armani written inside it.0 -
The state should just force the price down to £200 and there should still be an Armani label inside.0

Probably all made in China, anyway, now.0

I think you should be able to buy a quarter of an Armani suit and hire the rest.0

You should stop eating avocado toast. Go over to the thrift forum and they’ll tell you how to survive on roadkill.0
