Bought a DS what now?

I've just bought my sons a DS each for christmas. What does everybody think are the essential things to buy to go with them, games acessories etc. Thanks.

  • Depending on the age of your son....tell him if the screen gets dirty - not to wash it under the tap! My daughter did (hadn't thought I actually needed to tell her not to)
We have car chargers and a case that can hold the ds and games & a case which is hard plastic which slots over the ds to protect it. They are relatively easily broken!

My son got a DS last xmas and i got him a pack in Game that has a bag to carry everything(there own make and available in black, white + pink last year),spare stylus(for the touchscreen),screen protectors, cleaning cloth, woollen sock to keep console in can't remember what else!!!It was around £10-£12 but has been invaluable as it keeps everything together so less mess:D Also a little wallet thing gray in colour i was £2.50 for it(Game's own make) and it has wee compartments to keep the loose cartridges in and a set of the plastic cases for the game cartridges(around £2 for 5)
Also i would say to you keep all the ds/gameboy aadvance game boxes and books as you get more for the games if boxed with books when/if you decide to trade them in!!(i had to learn the hard way as usual !!LOL :D
Hope this helps!!:D Wow that wasn't a quick post :rotfl:

Definately a zip-up case each. They DO break if dropped from even a low height  . Games I would recommend to keep their attention for more than 5 minutes are:
    New Super Mario Bros,
    Mario Kart
    Shrek 3
    Animal Crossing
    Yoshi's Island
    Sonic Rush

Bust-a-move is a great game that I play for hours, only I have now discovered how easily the screen gets scratch marks (and I've only ever used the DS's own stylus) So strongly recommend get a screen protector. Game charge about £6.99 for two (but found clear sticky backed plastic from WHS currently on offer at £1.45 works just as well and there is about 400 screen proctectors on it!!!)
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

toysrus instore i got project rub game which my 5 yr old plays for hours, it has lots of mini games on it.
I love zoo keeper and play it for hours.

also you can get gameboy advance games to play on DS although you can use stylus with these games. www.uwish.co.uk are currently doing 4 GBA games for £10 which i think is a excellent bargain.

I would say Mario Kart is an absolute must-have game. Sonic Rush and Brain Training I highly recommend too.

If you don't have a wireless internet connection I would also recommend the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector (or something similar) as an accessory so that he can play games online.

  • Please bear in mind that things like the R4DS are piracy and illegal. (unless used for homebrew of course)

I really recommend against GAME screen protectors as they are rubbish.

These ones are great.... $1.99 and you get two pairs. Brillness. (Delivery is free though it takes about 2 weeks)

Basically, any game that has the blue wifi logo will have wifi. If you've got a wireless network you have everything you need. Games like mario kart, animal crossing, 42 all time classics are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Where you need to head in the game will depend on the game itself. In things like mario kart and all time classics, you just go to multiplayer and wifi. Animal crossing you have to open your gate or talk to the people near the gate to visit some one else.
