Dodging council tax bailiffs

Accidental landlords eh. Blaming their tenants (one n by the way, may help as a ‘landlord’) for not forwarding their mail and wiping their bums for them!
It puzzles my what motivates some people on here, unable to answer the specific question asked, instead choose to indulge in petty nit-picking. Unless the OP is completely self-pitying, self-flagellating, and self-abasing, some busybody like you always pipes up to have a go at them.
In response to a few throwaway, tongue-in-cheek phrases you decide to take everything literally, projecting some irrelevant accusations and taking offense on behalf of people you don’t even know. You’re wasting your time on here as, apparently lacking the knowledge to give any useful advice but wanting to join in anyway, you can only snipe.
Oh and thanks for your judgy comment about “accidental” landlords, more projection when you know f-all about my situation, I’m sure you’d prefer it if I’d posted “Help, my house is about to be repossessed”?0 -
Many thanks to @National Debtline, @CIS and @sourcrates for helpful and informative posts (not sure how to tag usernames on here).
On the basis of advice given I will contact the bailiffs to arrange a payment plan0 -
Don't worry there's no way in hell I'd let you rent my house. My tennants are lovely people, have nothing but nice things to say about me and I don't expect them to forward my mail at all. Still, you'd think they'd mention something if they received a succession of official looking letters with, I'd imagine, something like FINAL DEMAND - DO NOT IGNORE written on them...
Well, they haven't!
By the way, nobody can see "tongue in cheek" on the internet. If you post about "interrogating" tenants, and "minions" on the phone, both with clear negative connotations, you will get a negative response.
Posting in good faith means saying what you mean, otherwise people will see what you say, and with no evidence to the contrary, react as if you did.
Anywho, as stated, these fees will not go away by ignoring them and hoping that paying the CT itself will cover it. It'll end in more fees and enforcement. If you have the means to pay, do so. Only if this is the straw that broke the camels back so to speak should you speak to a debt charity about your full situation if the needs arise of course.

Having spent some time on the internet, what I’m not surprised about is the number of credulous pedants who completely miss the point of the thread, or selectively ignore the several times where I've admitted liability.
There have been several posters who have managed to overlook the phrasing and address the crux of the matter, coincidentally these seem to be the people who actually know what they’re talking about rather than those that feel the need to jump on something just so they can have something to say. If anyone was seriously concerned I was going to tie up my tenants and shine a light in their eyes, or that I gave the council <tongue in cheek> underling </tongue in cheek> who answered the ‘phone a hard time then I genuinely feel sorry for them.
Tbf I was trying to write in an engaging way so if nothing else I suppose provoking snotty responses is in itself a way to keep bumping the thread up where it will get the attention of people who have useful info to add.0 -

Ever thought that the way you have projected yourself might be a lot to do with the way people react to you? You've lambasted your tenants, changed your story, been dismissive of others and the phrase I've highlighted in bold above just sums up the attitude of people who will come and use this forum for advice, but really want the advice to be what they want to hear, rather than honesty, and will never look to give ANYTHING back to the very place that they've come to for help. Sneering at those who are genuinely in crisis, in many cases NOT of their own making, will never endear you to the majority of regulars on here I'm afraid.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I've seen enough stories of frankly awful landlords to look at your posts with an element of worry, yes.
Only when challenged have you changed tack and said "I'm only joking". You are aware that there are plenty of legitimate horror stories of landlords imposing punitive, unfair sanctions on their tenants for spurious reasons? If not, it would pay well to not portray yourself as a dodgy landlord.
As for your tone? Again, I have no doubt that you are indeed capable of giving the call handler a hard time, and for no reason other than because you felt like it. Again, why should we not believe your posts as written, instead of as challenged?

Er, where did I change my story? And lambasting the tenants! Exaggerate much?
Long time reader, first time poster. I have gained a lot from reading these forums over the years. The reason I am not more active posting is I don’t have the expertise or experience to give people really useful advice and don’t think posting my ill founded conjectures would add much. I could make like some of the posters on this thread and indulge in a bit of whatabouttery, po-faced hand wringing and grammar policing but I’m not sure how much that helps the community?
Despite your attempt at misinterpretation I am not sneering at the people who need help, rather the impression I get on here that those asking for help are expected to display a certain level of gratitude, guilt and sorrow otherwise they are fair game for criticism from certain quarters.
I’m expecting to be told off for wasting the poor bailiff’s time next!
Oh, and by the way I'm very happy and grateful for the actual advice I received, it confirmed I couldn't avoid the charges, so it certainly wasn't what I wanted to hear, but it did help me make a decision. The 'advice' I don't need is people casting aspersions about me extrapolated from a few odd remarks.0 -

Wow, you worked all that out from a couple of offhand remarks? If I were you I’d put my amazing psychic powers to picking the lottery numbers, or earning a living on the clairvoyant circuit.0 -

No, I worked it out by your passive, almost overty aggressive manner.
If that's how you act on a forum, it's not hard to make the jump to how you would act in regards to a Council call handler trying to address a CT debt.
I'd kindly suggest cooling down a little bit and not trying to pick a fight with everyone. It's not really worth the bother from either side, is it?

StopIt I rather think everyone reading can already see precisely where you, I and others (who are all wrong, clearly) are coming from with our posts on this one - people generally project their real selves pretty well in their posts, or so my 9 years of reading AND posting experience tells me, and I think this OP's posts speak pretty well for themselves! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
