Hi, I got a few days ago a letter from this company about a debt from 2006. I haven't paid or acknowledge it since that time but this letter is giving me till mid December to reply or at first it's a claimed issued against me and then it says a ccj may follow. Would anyone be able to offer and advice as I'm sure from reading above after 6 years it becomes SB. Many thanks

Write back and tell them that under section 5, limitations act, 1980, this debt has not been paid or acknowledged in writing for a period exceeding 6 years, and is therefore statute barred under the above act.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Is this one of the new-style letters before action, with a reply form?

Send them this letter, with the details changed accordingly of course.

Thanks for the replies. The letter they sent is the one they send before a claim I think. It just sets out the debt and then give you various options to choose like that you agree to pay the debt or you can't afford it and if you aren't going to pay it. I'll send The letter that's shown in the previous link. Thanks again0
