Gambling transactions...

Are they taken into consideration when getting a new mortgage (same bank?)

Just wondered as partner deposits £100 a week and these will show up, nothing has been mentioned as we are moving house (increasing mortgage) and are at the survey stage. However someone has mentioned gambling transactions and I wasn’t sure even if survey & valuation come back ok, could they still pull the mortgage offer due to gambling transactions??

Slightly panicked. Anyone been ok or worst case, refused due to online gambling?

If it is £100 every week then you would expect most underwriters to be ok. It is not like you are addicted and doing it every day for example.

But some lenders may be concerned.

Deposits? Does this mean he keeps winning?

  • Applying for the mortgage with your own bank can either help a case or hinder it.

It's all relative... i.e £100pw is ok if you're on £30k a year but probably not if you're on £15k.

  • It may be picked up on and personally I would stop using the account for gambling transactions (in fact I would tell your partner to stop gambling but that is your choice). It is relative according to income and frequency of transactions but each lender has their own underwriting criteria and some may question it and others may not. If there are no recent ones I would imagine it will look better for you.

I’d stick to cash, so no one knows. Having paddy power or Ladbrokes flagged up on your account can’t be good, unless you win all the time.
Ah, yes, that trump/ brexit / Leicester city treble last year.
I’ve been told by someone who works in a bank that they are alerted to withdrawals late at night at the weekends in your local “entertainment” district - it suggests you drink heavily. It may not be true of course - perhaps someone on here will enlighten us.

  • To me that would scream alarm bells, the problem with consistent gambling transactions is that things can quickly spiral out of control and banks definitely have this flagged as one of their key things to look out for, in fact I would say gambling and pay day loans are the two things that would alert a bank. If it was more inconsistent say a £100 deposit then nothing for a couple of months then that would be slightly better. I could be wrong but let us know how it goes, best way to look at situations like this is imagine you didn't know this person and saw the transactions would you think reliable or a risk?

You need to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life.

I have seen you from restless/needy, must move to Norfolk - so you did.

Then the parking wasn't right - so must move again (which I guess is where we are now).

Wherever we move, we take with us our history. In your case, very simply, it seems to be your husband.

You either stand by him and try to progress the mortgage, & live happily ever after.

Or stand by him and get declined and remain where you live now

    Or look at wikivorce.
