Hi
I've ordered the Nikon D70 with lens from pixmania <www.pixmania.co.uk> for £592 plus shipping. But, looking on Nikon UK web site they still have the £100 cashback until end of the month, so hopefully I should get the camera & lens for about £500.
Wish me luck!

Edit: Sorry, should have gone into Grab It while you Can. Doh! Finger trouble! Sorry

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (and I may be wrong), but I don't think the cameras sold by Pixmania are UK stock (french imports) and therefore are not included in the Cashback deal

Yeah I'd be surprised if Nikon UK would give you £100 cashback on a camera that wasn't supplied by them....0

yeah, I hear what your saying, but the Nikon web site doesn't make any distinction clear. And if there was probably against Euro law to discriminate. And its a good price even so... so I didn't think much to lose!

check the T&Cs on the cashback:
12. The promotion only applies to products which have been supplied and distributed by Nikon UK Limited within the UK and Republic of Ireland...
I've spent the last 3 weeks trying to find the very best deal - Pixmania were very tempting, but I wanted to be on the safe side and get a UK camera in case it developed any problems. Cheapest I could find for UK stock was 7dayshop at £679 but I ended up getting a £699 price-match at Jessops (who won't match 7dayshop) as I'd seen some dodgy reports of 7dayshop customer service. I'll end up paying about the same as you when my cashback goes through.
Don't be too disppointed about the cashback - under £600 for what is in effect a £550 camera and a £300 lens is still a great deal and the quality of the pictures is amazing.
If anyone else is looking for one of these deals, I'd advise ringing the dealer first to check whether their stock is included in the cashback - I even found one place (InternetCamerasDirect) who told me that their stock wasn't included even though there was a link to them from the Nikon website!Ostende mihi pecuniam!0 -
i would wait anyway. they did this promo earlier in the year and the price has dropped since then. i have heard that nikon are bringing out a new model so i reckon that the d70 price will drop even more once this one is out. same thing happened with canon, i think it was last year.0

My husband got his D70 + 18-70 for £694.99 from cameras2u.com and we've received the £100 cashback cheque.
We're very impressed with the camera so far
Same old same old since 20080 -
and they said 1st year was with Nikon UK, so I guess at the worst its a EU sourced camera and thus EU law applies.
Nikon have announced the D70s, but a close, and I mean CLOSE look at the specs of the 2 and I can almost NO DIFFERENCES whatsoever!
See for yourself at http://www.dpreview.com/news/0504/05042003nikond70s.asp. First time I've tried to do a live link so apologies if it doesn't work.
In fact the only difference I could see are a different grip, a different studio flash connector (which I would never use as I don't do studio photography). Oh yes, didI mention the near £200!
I've said for years the best deals are on soon to be discontinued items, so I've put my money where my mouth is.
PS Note to self: remember to update the firmware.
