If he hasn't done anything wrong (obviously neither you or I can know this ) - 1) Why should he leave ?
2) - leaving could be seen as admitting guilt
3) - not everyone can afford to just quit their job
I wouldn't leave but I would be spending pretty much every hour I could looking for a new job.
The delays are clearly to the OP's advantage because if the allegations are eventually upheld, he has had several extra months' pay that he wouldn't have received if the company had investigated more efficiently.
Plus several months in which his CV will show that he is currently employed, rather than recently sacked for gross misconduct. Of course he'd have to say to interviewers "I need to tell you that I'm currently being investigated for gross misconduct in a totally baseless witch-hunt" but that's still better than "I was sacked for gross misconduct after a totally baseless witch-hunt".0 -
With the disciplinary looming next week this is all too late. Currently any reference will state that the OP left in advance of a disciplinary for gross misconductMalthusian wrote: ».....Of course he'd have to say to interviewers "I need to tell you that I'm currently being investigated for gross misconduct in a totally baseless witch-hunt" but that's still better than "I was sacked for gross misconduct after a totally baseless witch-hunt".Saving money right, left and centre0 -
I've been there for 5 years and I work with my long term partner, so I'd like to stay. Just with I was a member of a union, and that I'd looked for advice earlier.0

The delay wouldn't in and of itself make the dismissal unfair. But it is a long time, and I think you have every right to ask why it has taken so long, its caused you stress, anxiety etc. and if it's so serious that it warrants dismissal why has it taken them so long to deal with it?“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G.
