Is there any logic to when advance tickets are released?
I need to travel from London to Crewe on Sunday 28th January. I can get advance tickets for the 27th, 29th and 30th, but there are none available for the 28th.
It seems unlikely they have sold out for all trains that day. Are they normally released at a different time to those sold on weekdays?

            Hi,
just tried RedSpottedHanky, has day return for £76 on that date.

I am using both Virgin and Nat Rail.
I got the outbound advance on the Saturday for £15, but there don't seem to be any advance tickets at all on the Sunday. My assumption was that they hadn't been released yet, but that seems strange given that I can get them for the following Monday and Tuesday.0

Sometimes there are engineering works at the weekend so it takes longer before the timetable is 'fixed' - so they probably haven't released tickets for the Sunday yet.

Virgin's advance ticket checker (available by clicking the cross towards the bottom left of this page)
 https://www.virgintrains.co.uk/tickets/your-ticket/ways-to-save
shows that for some reason tickets for Sunday 28th haven't been released yet. The main reason for these delays, epsecially around wekends and bank holidays, is usually that Network Rail are contemplating engineering works on that date and haven't given the go-ahead to the train operators to release tickets.0

Yes going via LM will be cheaper but it takes a lot longer, especially on Sundays when they tend to stop at nearly every farmyard south of Rugby :rotfl:0

I see that all the Sundays in February are greyed out as well. Perhaps there is planned engineering work on Sundays over this period? Is there any logic to when advance tickets are released?
