Borrowing less than £1000 - Nationwide?

Hi All,

Currently have a £10,000 loan with Nationwide which is half way through it's term (£5,000 left ).

I require a top up of around £400 to pay for a burglar alarm for the house following on from an attempted burglary but did not realise the minimum loan is £1000.

Does anyone have any suggestions for any alternative ways of getting around this (other than 0% credit cards). Could I borrow the £1000 and pay £600 straight back? Would there be a fee for this?

There could be an early repayment fee of two months interest.

Couldn't you take it from savings? How long would it take you to get £400 together?

Is a credit card not an option?

One additional thought - if your loan is halfway through its term, there will be a lot more than 5k remaining.

I would assume a credit card or overdraft would be more suitable for a smaller amount.
