It sounds like you have it all in hand and are raring to go!

I wouldn’t put too much faith in the shares as an EF at the moment…

It all sounds doable and under control.  I know how hard you work to make the overpayments so I can see it all being paid in a speedy fashion.  Glad to hear the businesses are doing ok, especially in these uncertain times.

  • your extension sounds amazing. The amount you have spent doesn't surprise me We have spent over £60000 on our 3 bed semi in the last 4 years... with the occasional cash savings lump sum, but mostly zero % CC in between jobs.

You have done really well cashflowing so much of the extension. Sounds like you're 'on it'.

  • Evening everyone.

Just dropping by with a bit of an update.  Not much to report really, money side all ticking along nicely.  Completed my VAT return last week and due a refund which is a win and doesn't happen very often.  Will transfer to savings along with the rent from the flat when that arrives this week.

We've had a productive weekend around the house. Spent a good few hours yesterday doing some pre-winter jobs, DH cleaned out the drainage channels at the top of the drive and in front of the garage.  They'd got very gunked up following all the building work we've had going on. Meanwhile, I emptied out the garage, gave it a good clean and sweep out and then put everything back in it's proper place.  It had got so untidy we couldn't see the floor and is so much better now.

I then listed a few items we no longer need on marketplace and have got rid of some bits already.

This morning I have finished tiling the splashback in the utility room, I've grouted most of it but will finish the rest tomorrow.  My plan this week is to paint the walls and ceiling, the woodwork and the run of units that came out of the old kitchen. DH needs to put some skirting boards on and then we'll be able to fit the flooring.  I'm looking forward to getting it finished.

In other news we took the dog for a lovely walk on Friday morning, we love our child free Fridays now the children are back at school. We then treated ourselves to a lovely lunch out, £22.50pp for two courses and the food was exceptional and such a treat.

Finally, I have lit the woodburner this afternoon and am catching up on diaries whilst some steak braises in the SC.  I've washed and dried all the laundry ready for the week and shortly I'll make a steak pie to go with HM chips and veg for dinner before bath night for the children and an early night for us.  Happy Sunday everyone.  WF x

All sounds very productive. Braised steak sounds lovely.

I've been in garage clearing mode... but seems to be finding lots in the house to send into the garage so doesn't look like it will stay clear for long!

  • Evening All,

Tea was good thanks both but we had it tonight as it hadn't finished cooking by tea time.  I ended up making the quickest fish pie I've ever put together for last night's tea and it was very nice too.  Lots of leftovers from both meals for tomorrow nights meals then I will freeze the rest for quick dinners.

Today has been productive, I finished grouting my tiles, siliconed the edges and did some painting.  I marked out drill holes for DH for a shelf to go above the sink and handed him his drill as he walked through the back door after work!  Bless him he put the shelf up straight away and I spent a happy half hour dressing it to look pretty and admiring my handiwork

I have also managed to do my food shop in Ldl, dropped something at the docs for DH, unloaded the warehouse order at the shop then unpacked my shopping at home and folded all the laundry from yesterday ready to put away. All done between getting soaked on the school runs at either end of the day.
The house is tidy and the washing done, I'll run the hoover round in the morning before work, I love coming home to a clean and tidy house.

I'm really enjoying getting the house back in order and all tidy and organised.  I can't explain the chaos we have lived through this year, every room of the house was affected as all the kitchen, utility and large understairs cupboard were completely emptied and that stuff had to go somewhere - not to mention the dust!
It was a nightmare and I love things tidy and sorted which made it so much harder, i'm really liking putting my life back together - I sleep better and feel so much calmer when the house is organised.

  • A quiet day for me today as DH is away playing golf and children are at school.  I've had a nice morning pottering in the house, sorting through a few more areas, I'm slowly getting there with the tidying and decluttering.  It was quite chilly this morning, 4 deg according to DH who was out early, but a beautiful morning with glorious sunshine.  I love those kind of autumn mornings although they do make me start nesting for winter!

    Today's achievements include:

Cleared the mountains of paperwork from my desk (that had previously been shoved in a drawer - I sat them on the desk to encourage myself to tackle them!) filed all the needed bits and collected an armful to go in the recycling.

Tidied away all the junk DH emptied out of the car this morning on his way to golf; coats, drinks bottles, football tops/socks/jackets etc etc.

Tidied up the porch and the shoe racks.  Collected up all the random pairs of shoes from downstairs and put them back in their proper home.

Washed down the windows in the extension and kitchen.  A fairly big job made easier by my electric Karcher window vac.  Cleaned the windowsills at the same time.

Collected and sorted the laundry ready for washing.  Washer running as we speak with the bath mats that were in need of a wash.

Tidied up the utility room whilst looking for the karcher....

Cleaned the kitchen and cleaned the worktops properly (white quartz which gets really dusty and marks quite easily)

Lit the fire and sat down to watch a housey programme with a cup of coffee and diaries on my laptop

No dinner to prepare tonight as I made two curries yesterday, a chicken rogan josh for DH and a chickpea and potato curry for me and the children.  So a quick easy dinner with rice and naans before a quiet night in by the fire with a glass of wine.  Happy Friday folks x
