Any news from the house viewings?
I love our van but I do hat all the getting ready/tidying it up!!0 -
Hi Zcrat.
The people who viewed Friday did indeed love the house but later advised the agents that they have 4 cars (yes, really!) and I really don't understand why they viewed in the first place. In a small rural village set in a valley (so limited overspill as narrow lanes are double-yellows) with very obvious parking issues why would you waste everybody's time?!! Ah well, onwards. We have a further two viewings booked in whilst we are away, at least it is still generating interest. Fingers crossed for those.
I have competed my to-do list today in the sweltering heat, it has been ridiculous. However, every scrap of washing is now washed and dried and I am having good results sun-bleaching some white items that are a bit marked/dull. They have only been on the line one day but already looking much better.
Lots to do at work tomorrow in prep for being away but should get it all done and then we're ready(ish).
Finally, MSE news. I got a £5 love to shop voucher through the post for completing a health questionnaire a few weeks ago. I didn't realise they rewarded you so an unexpected win. Another win was N3xt refunding the vest tops despite me having lost the reciept. I was expecting a credit note but was very pleased with this result.New Mortgage: £240 999 7/2/20 £ 205 000 Aug 23 Currently: £193 313 Jan 2025

Hey Woodfired,
That is so frustrating with the people and the cars! I had this when I was selling my house -"we love it, but we really want a hall entrance"- well mine clearly wasn't so why have you wasted all our time?! The joys of house selling I guess. I hope you had some luck with the other viewings, I have everything crossed for you!MFW Start:[STRIKE] Sep 2014 - £110,844[/STRIKE], July 2019 New Home £190,995

Our viewers would say "there are a lot of stairs, aren't there" ….. It was a 4 storey house .. or "lack of parking" it faced onto was on pedestrian promenade..... Hi Runders and MFD. It is proving to be hard work, that is for sure. Another viewer over the weekend gave parking as a reason not to view again, however, we do have two more viewings today so keeping my fingers crossed.
We are away in Norfolk at the moment, having a lovely time and seemingly avoiding the awful weather back home. The site we are on is beautiful and we have been out on a boat for the day and taken lots of bike rides around the quiet lanes, stopping off for lunch at some lovely pubs along the way. The children have made some friends and have played out until late in the evening whilst DH and I have eaten nice dinners in the awning and had a couple of glasses of wine.
We have been spending a bit more than anticipated though, the prices are much higher than back at home but I suppose they always are the further south you go. We brought £500 in cash and £480 in the holiday spends account. Have got £270 remaining in the account and £120 left in cash . This is our sixth day and we have been mainly eating out once a day, usually lunch, and have done a couple of 'big shops' at a local asd@ for breakfast stuff and evening meal supplies (to supplement he food we brought). I have bought a few bits for the caravan out of that though and a new swim suit for DD after hers ripped on the first day.
Today we wont spent anything besides an odd ice cream as we've eaten breakfast and lunch in the caravan and I've loads in for dinner too, that should help the budget slightly. Then we've only 3 days left until we travel home so will focus on eating up what we have bought in before we go. We are having a lovely time though and that is the main thing.
In other money news I emptied the joint account yesterday to buy a final £500 worth of premium bonds to take my total up to £40k. I wanted to do this by the 31st so that they will be eligible for the draw on Sept 1st. I am now going to stop buying bonds and re-start my OPing. I do need to allow the account to recover a bit first though! The mortgage today stands at £113 751 and savings at £43 500.

Just read through your entire diary so far. You've had lots of ups and downs since you started! Hopefully you will only have ups now.
Fingers crossed on the house and enjoy the rest of your holiday!
I am itching to take some of your thrifty foody ideas and use them myself.
We are currently waiting (very impatiently) for the bank to make a decision on whether they will lend on the property we found. They originally valued it and said it didn't meet their lending criteria. They then asked for us to get some reports completed and they could reconsider. We submitted the reports on Monday. Our broker said we hopefully will hear within the next 7 working days. Fingers crossed.Mortgage start: £121,500 Dec 190 -

Fingers crossed for you Bennett! How stressful is moving house? It completely takes over your life I find! Hope everything works out for you!New Mortgage: £240 999 7/2/20 £ 205 000 Aug 23 Currently: £193 313 Jan 2025

ZC & Savingholmes, we had a fab holiday thank you very much!
We travelled home late-ish last night instead of today as we thought the roads may be busy today and as we were all packed up (ie. awning down etc) it seemed we might as well just set off. We did spend most of the day at the beach prior to going though so didn't feel we had 'wasted' the day.
I managed to get all of the bedding washed and dried whilst still there and pretty much all other washing done too. The weather was scorching which helped with getting it all dry and so I've only yesterdays clothes and a couple of towels to wash now we're home.
I take all of our clothes in nice 'bags for life' as they stack easily in the wardrobe and can be lifted out easily to look for the days items. It is also easier when we get home as I have just deposited each bag in the relevant room, ready to be unpacked.
The house is all tidy thanks to the mad rush before we left so just a bit of shopping and meal planning to do today.
Speaking of the house, we seem to have had a couple of very positive viewings whilst we were away. One lady has £210k cash and ideally wanted to buy cash but loved ours so much that she is going to see if she can get a mortgage to make up the difference. Fingers crossed. Another couple have it as a top contender, they were slightly worried about the size of the 4th bedroom but still haven't ruled it out.
Right I'm off to plan some healthy meals, I really must get back on track with my eating!New Mortgage: £240 999 7/2/20 £ 205 000 Aug 23 Currently: £193 313 Jan 2025
