Irresponsible lending.

I have been contacted by a “reclaim company” telling me I am legible to claim against the lender when we signed up to a club lacosta membership.

History.
We bought into the club lacosta membership a few years ago, admittedly it was the usual “timeshare hard sell” but we went into it with our eyes open.
We have had some great holidays.
We relinquished our membership a couple of years ago and signed a disclaimer to lacosta.
However I’m now being contacted by a reclaim company, telling me we should never have been offered the “high interest” loan and gave me a couple of examples. They are clumping it all into the ppi scheme and say we can get all of our money back.
They want us to go to Tenerife to sign the papers due to tax reasons. But they will pay for the hotel while we are out there.
They have said they are not selling anything but will invoice us for 20% on a successful claim.

I can’t find any mention in any of the ppi links.

You're clear that you understood what you were doing, and you have enjoyed the benefits of the timeshare. Taking off your compo hat, what legitimate grounds for complaint do you think you have?

This is a worse scam than the Time Share they're claiming as a scam ever was, or will be.

Telling you go to Tenerife to sign papers that can be legally posted or faxed? yeah..

Come on, use a little bit of common here. Lumped in with PPI claims? What legal basis would that be on?

    No, no, no, no, no.

I had a nice holiday last year.

It didn't occur to me to ask for my money back afterwards.

Ask them to send you the plane tickets to Tenerife and details of the overnight stay they have booked for you and you may consider looking into it.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

    Ignore them, they're scammers.
Go to the PPI board and read the thread on Club La Costa

Greed makes it so easy for a scam to work
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

It's a scam. Same as a lot of these timeshare buyback things, where you pay to stay somewhere and then get a hard sell into trading your timeshare for something, and just add a bit more money.

If they pay for everything in advance, you've got nothing to lose, but don't expect the good deal you're being promised.

But to be fair, if you've already got rid of the timeshare then you're as well just not bothering.

I've had these calls too, although mine said they could do the meetings in UK and there's an upfront fee of £99. I asked them to send the details... Only because I'm convinced there's a scam there somewhere, as I can't see them bothering for just £99...havent been arsed to read the paperwork yet
