How do I do a DBS check on myself?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking into starting a cleaning business so I'd like to do a DBS check on myself, just to give customers a bit of extra peace of mind. I know you can only do a basic one on yourself but how do I apply for it and how much will it cost? I've found lots of information about companies applying for employees's enhanced DBS checks but I'm struggling to find any information about applying for your own basic check.
Thanks!

Thanks ohreally, isn't that just for Scottish residents though?

You can use Disclosure Scotland even if you don't live in Scotland, its their equivalent of a DBS Check in England but it's open to everybody and uses the same database as a DBS Check.

That being said, officially you can't do an enhanced DBS on yourself. It has to come from a company on your behalf. Basic one as above, yes but above that, no. Whether you could set your company up as limited and request it through that may be an alternative.

You may not actually need DBS Check anyway, as these are realistically only needed if your cleaning business is going near or in schools/children or vulnerable adults. If your aim is go round people's houses or company premises with a mop, bucket and a Henry Hoover make sure you get Public Liability Insurance as well.

Thanks Neil, it will be domestic cleaning so I was thinking that any customers who are OAPs or who have kids may prefer someone with a DBS check, even just a basic one.

Insurance is absolutely my next port of call!
