No idea! I’m a non drinker and only use alcohol in food.VfM4meplse wrote: »What percentage alcohol? Anything 40%+ lasts for years.
What’s the normal percentage in Sherry. Certainly if the price difference wasn’t that big I’d go for the 40 percent plus bottle, that would seem to make sense0 -
Sherry is generally around 17-20%, but should keep for a good few months if kept in a cupboard out of daylight. The kitchen sherry in our house usually lasts a few weeks, but I do have a glass while cooking Sunday tea!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Check the label. The stronger the alcohol, the more its taxed - that's the way life works! What’s the normal percentage in Sherry. Certainly if the price difference wasn’t that big I’d go for the 40 percent plus bottle, that would seem to make sense
The sherry we had in our home as a child (think 1970s) would last for years, even when Mum had a tipple cooking the Sunday roast. It tasted disgusting to my young tastebuds, but I wouldn't have been able to tell you if that was old or new. I do distrinctly remember tiny particles of cork sinking to the bottom of her glass, though.Sherry is generally around 17-20%, but should keep for a good few months if kept in a cupboard out of daylight. I keep mine in the fridge, it's dry, so nicely chilled if I want to drink it and handy for cooking. As far as I'm concerned the stuff never goes off. I've certainly kept it way longer than just a few months.0

Years and years!
I drink fino & manzanilla when I can afford it, and keep them in the fridge as they are nicest chilled. But the 'own brand' oloroso / sweet sherry that I use in cooking - I haven't bought any for at least 7 years as am still using my parents' stash (really!) and haven't stored it in the fridge!0 -
I only use sherry in the Christmas trifle, I keep the bottle in a dark cupboard and only reckon on replacing it every 5 -6 years as it runs out.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Thanks to all for their answers. I think I’ll settle for a few years - cheers :beer:0

I opened this post thinking the OP was asking where in our kitchens we hid the sherry!
FWIW mine is in the large Persil box, as OH would never open that!0
