You are filling me with dread - firstly the thought of being trapped in the house with my OH for a week due to bad weather - at least on holiday I can prop him up in a bar and leave him there.
And secondly of going anyway out of the house - today I left him in Neros while I went to B&M, Joules and the charity shop.

Mine also has to everything explained in words of half a syllable.

As we left the car park a chap was walking just ahead of us - very distinctive and he looked like Captain Birds Eye and I remarked that "he's chancing it a bit".
OH didn't have a clue what I was saying so on the third attempt
"The person walking ahead of us who we followed out of the car park, he wasn't at the ticket machine with you, he is chancing getting a parking fine, leaving his car with no parking ticket on the windscreen"
Lol, they never catch on, do they!

Grumpy now has had his ears sorted, (hearing aids), his eyes are now done, still 'recovering' from his second cataract operation, but still doesn't hear or see the things I do!!

But you will get there, as you say, leave them in a bar and they'll be happy.

Many years ago when i MADE him do Christmas shopping with me the rule was 3 presents bought - 1 pint.

I've only had a cursory look at the small shops map so far.

One shop that stopped trading in the summer I hoped would be on the list but its not listed.
Also one restaurant that changed hands a few years ago but it was still on the list with the original name for 2 years - sadly that's vanished now :(

Our local civic hall is listed again but I am not sure what you would purchase there - tickets or maybe a bus pass possibly. I doubt if they would take amex though ...

One strange one is just called Unit 6 - its on a small street and according to Google its next to the butchers but its not a shop as such, just a back extension of a small department store - and this store has never been on the list ...

I just love this promotion and will be starting my list tomorrow. I've got some new ones added from last year.

Look out for the little pharmacies. You can get Fairy wul and domestos for £1 ....so £5 for 10. They tend to do cheap lynx and toothpaste too. The grocery stores that sell Robinson's for £1 or cheap booze.
Chicken from the local butchers and broth mix and packed beetroot from the greengrocers. I could go on forever. In Newcastle we have all the specialist foodie shops and market stalls and don't forget the cafes and restaurants. Love it 😍

Last year I even got a Katie Loxton clutch bag for a fiver in a little gift shop in Durham.....the one that sells Nigellas dressing gowns:D
