Lesson for today - always triple check bank details when processing online transfers. I wasn't paying attention and gave myself a real fright sending quite a sum across - only to find it hadn't gone to the intended account .
Forunately when I have traced the number it has gone into the ISA, but could very easily have gone to a closed account :o. It wouldn't be so bad but it did ask for confirmation and you had to put in a code to confirm, so I am stupid :(

I am thinking of working through bank accounts and dropping some - all the BOS have dropped to 1.5% now (same as SAN), what were the other recent changes please, as I have lost track?

It may be time to close some down and consolidate in a smaller number of places - it seems daft paying £5 a month to San to get 1.5% if I can get more without paying the fee. I see At0m have a 6 month fix at 1.79% or 12 month fix at 2.05% if you don't need access for a few months, and that beats San and BOS with no hassle.

UPDATE - San downgraded to Every Day (would have closed but decided to keep as a donor account if required in future) - it took 10/15 minutes on the phone. Make sure you have your account statement in front of you as they have loads of questions about payments in/out and when - it is a pain as you cannot simply downgrade online, but could upgrade  stupid systems! Why waste their agent's time for an account with no fee?

    What are Elite recommending please?

    Many thanks

The banking game is really annoying me at the moment. More effort required and fewer rewards. I have kept open my bos for the regular saver paying 2.5pc and lloyds also for their two regular saving accounts which are 3 and 2.5 pc. Have also kept santander for the 5pc regular saver and to drip feed all the other regular savers, eg nwide, kent reliance, first direct. It is hard work but the
only way to keep up with inflation. Have not done atom bank as not sure about apps as not very techie. My £5 santander fee is not covered by my dds cashback but quite often waitrose, co-op and morrisons are up for cashback. recently bought £100 of amazon vouchers in morrisons for the cashback so was worthwhile. Tesco internet saver also pays 1.3 which is one of the best instant access rates about at the moment.

Everything moneysaver imo is going from bad to worse. Just hope the good whoopsies continue at my tesco. Am very disappointed the brand guarantee is discontinuing. I find this very useful for adding things from cos, etc. to my yellow labels and getting money back.

Totally agree matty, bad to worse!

I'm not very techy either, but I've found Atom very easy to use,

I have a £5 back when I spend £50 on Esso petrol with Amex. It finishes tomorrow and have just got down to the last bar with petrol so dont think will get £50 worth in the tank. Can you spend in the Esso shop too , to make it up to £50. Can you use it at T express that have Esso petrol? Wondering whether to use it at an actuall Esso garage, or a T express that sells Esso petrol.
    tia :)

I can't see why not as it is reported as one transaction through the till - though be careful not to overspend as some of their prices are higher than TExtra etc so savings could easily be eaten up.

Whee is the offer section on your amex account please, or is it only on a certain type of amex, as I realise there are a few?
