Good morning all, a tad grey here but meant to get better.
    Morning,

Is anyone a member of National Trust? If so could you let me know if it is worth joining, and if you know of the best deals. I am thinking when DS1 and DIL return to the UK, they will want to go out on every weekends....and I know we will end up paying for everything! Thanks x

Di, well done on raising the money x

Not myself, but I have seen I think on here that you can join the National Trust of other countries and it is valid here but a lot cheaper. I believe the New Zealand one has been mentioned. Hopefully someone will come along and tell you more.

If you figure out about an hours drive of where they will be living and then have a look at what National trust properties are within that easy driving circle that will give you an idea. That way also is far enough to drive on a winters weekend.
Also look at the places they might go to on weekends away - if they are likely to do weekends away with NT visits as the main activities.
Think about what things they are interested in - history, architecture, politics walking, gardening, social history .... they all have a different emphasis
If there is half a dozen at least including some of the bigger ones then its worth thinking about - they all have timetables of events all year around now.
Also the National Trust own quite a few car parks in the lake District and along the south coast I think so some people have membership just so they can use the car parks as a base to start walks.

Train chaos again this morning I see all thanks to the biggest shake up to the train timetable in May.
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.
