Trouble with the Bran is that it gives such high APGs when buying a reasonable amount. Spent my last BIG one (£46+) instore today. A surprised raised eyebrow, but nothing more as I got in first saying it was because of £120 worth of wine.
That sounds more like Savvybuyer than the APG price collectors:rotfl:. It seems to me it's usually not so much that collectors notice it but what they have physically available to see in their stores. And exactly what is in each store they have changes every time.
The note I have made on this item (Brancott Sauvignon Blanc) tells me that it failed to work earlier in the week. The reason seems to be that the M mbuy was missed on the Monday price collection. Therefore the collectors did notice the item, in that they had a price for it - it was not a case of missing the item altogether and being N/A - but the mbuy was not picked up.
If the item had been missing altogether, this might likely have resulted from it being OOS for too long in the price collection stores or even not present anymore on price collection day in some of their stores or having lost its SEL in stores that therefore contribute no trace. In a situation of an item being missing altogether and returning N/A, the item might well, it seems to me, come back comparing on the next collection as it might reappear in their stores with full SEL information on that next time.
However, this is a case of the mbuy being missed. That is more likely, it seems to me, to be a result not of the price collectors not noticing it but of those in more stores physically no longer having it displaying on the shelf as the stores have lost the mbuy label from the display and are now showing straight full price for the item. It seems to me likely that several price collection stores lost the mbuy from their display and they had more collection stores (from those that had any SEL for the product and were not OOS for too long) now with no mbuy on display, instead with just the same individual full price, than the stores showing the offer.
In this situation, once a store has lost an mbuy during a continuing offer, it seems to me unlikely it will be put back. If there is no change in prices in M, staff in M, it seems to me, are unlikely to change a SEL to show the mbuy that it should as there is nothing prompting them to do so. It would only be more likely to be put right if the item then loses its SEL altogether - which could happen if it goes OOS and then a staff member takes the SEL away but the product then comes back into stock in the store and initially then has no SEL. An item going OOS seems much less likely to me when it is displaying straight full price in error and the mbuy is not on display for it. However, they could have other stock around the store, or on aisle ends, showing the offer and items can be moved around in stores and then may be put back to the main shelf and SELs may be changed.
The item could return to giving the M mbuy on the APG if at least equal stores that have any trace of it at all (and not a SEL in a store where the product has been OOS for too long) display the mbuy to those showing a specific higher price. To get that, one possible way is for some of the stores that have lost the mbuy to change to a different individual price (unlikely as the real price has not changed) so that they have the same number of stores on higher individual prices as before, with no mbuy on display, which trumped the mbuy last time as more stores had that but if there are now two different higher prices, the number of stores with one specific same price is not greater than those with the mbuy on display and so the mbuy is picked up.
The more likely way - but it seems unlikely to me for the reason stated below - is for some of the stores with no mbuy to go OOS of the item for too long or to lose their SEL altogether, so that then leaves the stores correctly displaying the mbuy giving that pricing into the system. However, it would seem to me that it's more unlikely for stores that are not showing the mbuy and are showing only an individual full price would be ones to go OOS. It's more likely the product may be lost in stores showing the mbuy:( and therefore - this may well be what has already happened - it leaves stores with individual full price showing as being the ones where they continue to have the product and they then get that price as the most common price.
It seems most likely, rather than collectors not noticing the mbuy, that the mbuy is no longer on display in more of the collection stores or that a store or more that previously had the product with the mbuy on display has sold out due to having the offer showing and leaving the product stock and SEL in the collection stores that are not showing the offer.
Once an mbuy has been lost, I think it's unlikely to come back as there's nothing that will get those mbuy-less stores to display the offer. This is different from the product going N/A altogether as it could be a temporary stock out from several stores but could easily be back in stock and with the SEL next time in one or more of their stores. Having been almost completely absent of the Vimto Remix 2L and with a 10-second glimpse of it in one store, that has been no trace before and ever since, I am now all of a sudden in stock of the product in a different place that has not had it before for me - and with rather more than 10 seconds of sight as I just stared at it for a while when I saw it as it was a surprise. So, items that have not been there or were N/A last time can come back in M stores at will. Whereas items that have full price SEL or other incorrect price may well remain unchanged for several months if it was missed at the outset of a price change or if it lost an mbuy from display, then just showing individual price on the display, with no change in actual price to prompt the SEL to be changed.0 -

can't remember the exact prices, yesterday i was in morrisons
display on a small shelving unit had 240 pg t bags £4 exactly the same boxes as i checked the bc, were £3.50 on the other end of the next aisle.
no wonder the collectors get it wrong. that said my waitrose has more mistakes than my morrisons, but as we know their data is collected on line
as i said im sure of the £4 but not of the £3.50
but the point is they had different prices for the same product0 -
