All true. Storing correctly will help the wine last better if not for that much longer. Bottles with corks should be horizontal so the cork doesn't dry out. Preferably stored in the dark, but definitely out of sunlight. Storing under the same temperature all year round will also help.
Agreed, hence our winedrobe, a closed cupboard with corked bottles stored horizontally on a rack, other bottles stored in boxes. We daren't store our strawberry horizontally though, unintentionally fizzy so stored in a box that is also in a black plastic bag in case it goes bang. The temperature does not stay as constant as we would like, but it is the best we can do.
We do find our home made wine lasts a lot longer than supermarket brands. Vintage champagne we tend to lay down for a while, non vintage gets drunk a lot quicker than that.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
