Hi everyone,
I've been lurking here for a few months now and thought it was about time I said hello. It took me quite a while to work out the APGs and I've experimented with a couple now, including the porridge one recently. I went for a wine shop today and thought I was being really clever by buying three different wines in one shop, until I got home and realised that it meant it only took the cheapest bottles off. Oops! Oh well, I think it still ended up being pretty cheap.

Welcome! Once you get your head round how the different glitches and deals work it becomes easier, though some of us still manage to mess up now and again.

The receipt with the £16 gin, that I have been waiting ages on, did not need rescuing against M. They bought the gin on Wednesday when several 1L bottles had gone onto £15 since the last price collection. As the price collection is not updated on the day of the collection itself, I believe that Wednesday would end with Monday prices immediately before midnight so that any receipt checked dated on the Wednesday, even if checked on a later day that isn't more than 28 days later, would end up with whatever Wednesday ended with (if checked on the day itself, would end with whatever the system had at the moment of checking). In short, I think Wednesday shops, even if checked on later days, end with Monday data even if the prices had changed in M on the Wednesday.
Fortunately they bought a gin that has not gone to £15, so that it makes me feel better about it. In fact, the gin in M appears to have gone even worse so that I feel even better. However, they should have bought a bottle that is £15 in M, has gone £15 price for M on the APG and should have bought that after the prices were updated and should have bought it with as many items as possible that were as high price as possible at A and with M at the lowest prices that are as high as possible difference. Basically the difference between the A prices and 10% lower than the comparing M prices should have been £100:rotfl:. And that ought to be the case - or else the same position against at least one of the other competitors - on every receipt that anyone else ever leaves for me:rotfl::rotfl:. Of course that will never happen. Meanwhile, the gin they bought is now showing £19 on m.com, although I do not know whether that was Wednesday's price in M or not as it appears to have gone from a high price that I wouldn't notice to another high price that I wouldn't notice - also, even if I had SELs for a price on Wednesday I still wouldn't know whether the price on those SELs was the real price).

Fortunately, S has the gin on £15 so the best comp. was against S although, as usual, it didn't quite work out giving anywhere near the 10% value off the price of the gin as some of the other items compare somewhat more expensive at S.

This doesn't mean, if all the prices for S have disappeared in the last couple of days, that this will work against S now. There may have been an error on S's website or the website could have been down at the time the APG tried to take a scan so that nothing compared against S.0 -
Thanks :-).
Yes I have been watching and (attempting) learning! I had been intending on buying the wine over 3 shops but then had the 'brainwave'. I bought 18 bottles over 2 shops this morning so I'm hoping they taste good
. I'm hoping for some red wine too at some point but then you can't be greedy! Although I do now have 2 enormous APGs to use up.
