Best to read the packaging to see if any lamp is suitable for use with your dimmer switch.....Most energy saving lamps will flicker on a dimmer switch....

Also, It may be worth considering upgrading your dimmer switch to a compatible switch....which will cope with the low electrical loads of these lamps...

A bit of unconnected information too....In case anyone has LEDs or energy saving lamps....These can interfere with Radio reception and also the TV controls if they are anywhere near the electrical item...I had a problem with my TV once when I put a lamp close the the TV.....The controls stopped working...Changed the batteries ect but still no use...I had bought new controls which still didn't work....Then the penny dropped....:o...Moved the lamp and hey presto...two working controls...:rotfl:

O and whilst on the subject....Don't have your phone to close to your modem....This can reduce the wireless reception in the house...

    Hope this helps

You can probably get same size 'halogen' bulbs that are 20% more efficient than standard incandescent in the same size that will work with the dimmer but longer term if you can find some right size dimmable LEDs you will save the cost of the bulbs and the replacement dimmer switch in less leccy usage. Last year we replaced a standard switch with a varilight LED dimmer and the existing LED spotlight bulbs with dimmable ones and it works fine and means we no longer have 'dark' or 'glare' options for the lounge lighting.
    I think....
  • Love this, this is my mantra for 2018. After Froctober I kind of stuck with it. I didn't over buy for Christmas so we don't have mounds of stuff to get through.
I did think the mullers might be good for my diet but no mullers would be even better so not bothering.
I'm supposed to be having my op on 12th January but I've been full of cold since before Christmas so I'm just off to the doc's to see if I need some anti biotic. Apparently there is a concern that because the op could take up to 16 hours there's a risk of pneumonia :( happy days, watch this space. I'm on my 4th nsd of the year :j

I'll be reining it in now too - I've spent around £22 on food bargains in the past 3 days not counting the large apg used, which is a lot of stuff for me, and Twixmas felt a bit spendy too, food-wise, but again all were bargains and I can't fit any more in the freezer. On the plus side these recent spends have produced another 25-worth of apgs, so it's all good really.

Today will be NSD for me.

Hope you get something for your cold and that all goes well on 12th. 16 hours is a long time, we'll be thinking of you. :):)

OH has a Lenovo laptop and it suddenly wont boot up. The screen comes up with the Lenovo logo and says its trying a repair. Have managed to get into the advanced repair screen and it still wont do anything. Have tried to get into Safe Mode but cant get there. Any ideas anyone??

Had that problem with a laptop a couple of years ago, the hard disk was damaged. Might not be that, might be a Windows problem. Would be interesting if he could put the hard disk into a cradle and try and read it from another computer?

How old is it? Mine had a factory restore section, had to google it for which button to press to get there though, only worked a couple of times before I gave up on it.

Evening everyone. Just wondered if any of the Elite can give me some advice regarding Manchester airport. We need to pick dd up from terminal 3 and not sure where to park.
    Thanks xx
    Hi
Been to Manchester Terminal 3 a few times over the past couple of weeks. The signage is not clear in my opinion but we concluded that arrivals and departures takes you to the same car park. Its also quite expensive £4 for 30 mins. We were there 2 hours and paid £9.50. Also the exit from the car park is not easy to find We ended up going up a level to find the way down !

  • Hi guys I'm trying to start on the tap programme.

Is had the Android Pay app on my phone for ages and had one card on it for a while so I logged on as another Gmail user and used a different card. I have done several tap payments but there have been no sign of any envelope rewards.

What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated. Do I need a different phone??
