Well the elves surpassed themselves this year.
Every year the elf on the shelf appears at DD's. There are 2 elves, in fact, and they are meant to keep an eye on the kids so they can report to Santa whether they've been naughty or nice. But DD's elves do not do that, they have never ever told tales on the children.
Instead, DD's elves are the naughtiest elves anyone could ever imagine. Each and every day throughout December they get up to a trick and then they sit waiting for their naughty antics to be discovered.
This has included putting faces on the fruit on the fruit bowl, spilling cereal over the breakfast table during the night, trailing loo roll from the holder all around the landing and down the stairs, making the tree fall down, etc etc.
But this year, they saved the very naughtiest thing till last.
On Christmas Eve night, in the very early hours after Santa had been, the elves covered the entire doorway into the living room with Christmas wrapping paper. It looked very pretty but it also meant the doorway had to be unwrapped so that people could get in to get at their presents.
Naughty, naughty elves.
It occurred to me that it's a good thing mhoc wasn't there, else everyone would have had to get scissors and cut that giant-sized wrap into tidy squares to be saved for next year.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -

DD received a present the size of a coffin....sorry but it was, I joke not:o Wrapped beautifully in metallic paper and ribbons. It contained a series of smaller boxes also beautifully wrapped until we got down to the matchbox sized gift box which contained a beautiful bracelet.
Mhoc would have had to be anaesthetised:o
