I have often seen people on here - and particularly on CAG (who seem to make up their own interpretation of consumer credit law) get animated over collection fees. The statutory wording on any agreement relating to VT is as follows:
"You have a right to end this agreement. To do so, you should write to the person you make your payments to. They will then be entitled to the return of the Goods and to half the total amount payable under this agreement, that is £ . If you have already paid at least this amount plus any overdue instalments and have taken reasonable care of the Goods, you will not have to pay any more."
I have highlighted the relevant bit....you are obligated to return the goods to the lender. If however they are prepared to offer the service of collecting them from you, for a nominal cost, and this is more convenient for you, then what's to complaint about? You could always turn their offer down and deliver the car to them instead.0 -

I only query it because I’ve seen other VT forums which states no collection fee, I will happily deliver the car to them. I just wanted other people’s views on everything as this is the first time I have VT’d a car.0
