Stagecoach problem

I purchased a monthly ticket to get to work when I got paid on 31/10/17 for £93.99. I done it online and sent the ticket to my smart card and chose 02/11/17 as the start date.
So I'm stood at the bus stop this morning and I go to use my card and the driver says it has expired. I try again and yep it's definitely expired. If I don't get the first bus I'm late for work so great start to the day. I go home and contact stagecoach and the guy on the phone says it's gonna take 5-7 days before they look at it and another 2-3 days before they action it. I ask if I will get my travel in the meantime refunded and he says no. So I've just got a weekly ticket for £25 which expires on 08/11/17 and I may very well have to get another one. Is there a possibility I can get the money I had to spend today back? I have sent an email to customer service but I wanted to know if anyone has had any luck getting money back. Thanks
