Slow Cooker Liners

Hi

Has anybody used slow cooker liners ?

Are they any good ?

My slow cooker is a big 6.5 litre slow cooker so is it a case of one size fits all ?

We're currently between kitchens so we're washing up in the bathroom sink & using the bath as a drainer so I'm looking for ways I can find to reduce washing up.

Cheers

Jen

You could try putting your food inside a casserole dish or bowl inside the slow cooker. That should work.

Then they have to wash the casserole dish.....

I think the OP is looking for something s/he can throw away therefore not wash up.

    Thanks both,

Yes I am considering them as I think I can throw them away & not have to worry about washing the slow cooker.

I do realise that they aren't very old style but I'm washing up in a bathroom sink at the moment & so little potential for presoaking dirty casserole dishes etc.

I'm not a lover of ready meals so that's why I'm looking for ways of making cooking & washing up easier.

    Cheers

  • Hi

I use these all the time, they are great. I have a 6 l cooker and they fit fine. When finished cooking, just throw away the liner, no washing up. Brilliant!!

Thanks OP, I haven't heard of these before, they sound like a handy item to use occasionally for very sticky foods or in your circumstances. I'm a bit wary of heating food in plastic though. Any thoughts from other readers? I also have roasting bags which didn't get used. Could you use them? You've set me thinking now...

I bought pack of 5 from Home Bargains, 69p I think. They are big so plenty of overlap, not sure about roasting bags though. The instructions tell you to take the food out first rather than lifting the bag out with all the food in it I guess in case it breaks. I find them pretty successful and makes it easier to clean the dish.

It's not plastic, it just looks like it. They are mostly silicone-based materials.

I have used some I bought from Amazon, to use whilst we were replacing the kitchen.

They are fine, I would recommend putting a splash of water in the base of the SC dish before lining it, I found without the water I was getting burnt spots, of course that could have been my SC having a hotspot.
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

  • Adding to an old thread. Use slow cooker liners from amazon. When you have taken out the pot what you need for dinner, leave the rest in the liner in the pot to cool. Take the liner plus left overs out of pot, expel some air, seal with clip, when cold, freeze. No messing about with extra containers.
  • I bought some from the £ shop to see what they are like and love them. No mess to clean and an easy way to save leftovers.
