Can I buy just the screw tops to kids water bottles?

You know the sort I mean, go in kids lunchboxes, usually made of aluminium. They are all a standard size. The bottom bits last forever but the screw tops seem to bite the bullet early in my house. After a while they get chewed looking, or they fail in other ways so bottle starts leaking.
Anyway, it annoys me that I have to fork out for a whole new water bottle just because the top has failed. Anyone know where I can buy just the tops? I've had no luck googling or looking on this board. CHEERS!

Can't help regarding the bottle tops.
Just to say that water bottles shouldn't be used for an age especially if they are plastic, as they eventually break down and reacts with the water.0 -
Why not buy a bottle from supermarket that contains a liquid like water, or squash and then reuse the bottle if you no what I mean.0

I know exactly what you mean - my kids go through the lids too. I actually contacted thermos about it a while ago as that was the brand of the aluminium bottles that we were using at the time. They were very unhelpful and said that they did not stock spare parts.
Can't offer any solution at all I'm afraid except for looking out for them on special offer. You can also put the used aluminium parts in the metal recycling container at your local tip so as you don't feel too bad about the waste aspect.
Just remembered too: Our school sells special kids school water bottles with sports lids and a wide neck. They are fully dishwasher proof and have a space to write your kids name on. They only cost £1 each, so it is not too expensive to replace them when they chew the lids. These bottles are for use in the classroom to try and prevent dehydration. I also use the aluminium bottles in their packed lunches.
They look like the ones on this website:

It might even be worth asking your school about it - our school buys a job lot and makes a (small) profit by selling them for £1 each.0 -

I use these for work - refill a bottle for a while and then recycle when I think it is beyond cleaning. OK, maybe not fantastically environmentally friendly, but it does the job, and it's a lot cheaper than constantly replacing aluminium bottles! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Thanks for replies all. I do reuse bought bottles for everyday, out in the car etc.
This is the type of bottle I mean, hope link works...

Although mine did not cost that much!
Jap200 those £1 bottles look good, might let the school know about those. We also have water bottles for hydration in class, I managed to get a strong plastic one from good old Lidl, but they are too big to go in the lunchbag. Just wish the company that makes the aluminium ones did replacement lids. Might email them about it.0 -
The sigg bottles in the link are great.
And you can buy replacement tops for them.
The tops of out our bottles get very worn as my kids open them with their teeth...no matter how many times I tell them not to.

wilkinsons had some of these metal type bottles that were reduced in their clear out bit...they were a £1 each.0

Try synergy-group, we've just bought our kids clear water bottles with additional tops for school, very reasonable.0

I agree with Poppycat, just using small bottles that originally had liquid in them (e.g. water) is simple and cost effective.
However, if you are looking for something a little 'fancier' try checking with your local water company. They often give them away for free!0
