Carry Forward Query
Comments
-
I seem to get conflicting advice from HL when I ask them about this,they say i can't carry forward anything because I have earned £40k this year.
My situation is;
2017/18 Earnings £23k..pension contribution £23k
2016/17 Earnings £23k ..Pension contribution £0
2015/17 Earnings £23k...Pension contribution £0
According to them I cant carry forward anything because I havent earned £40k in this tax year.
Is this right?0 -
I think you still have not got the point. Carry forward and annual allowance are not relevant to you, so it doesn't matter what HL are saying, confusing or otherwise.
Your problem is relevant earnings in the current year.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks Clifford, yeah this stuff is confusing for me, so on my numbers above,can i carry anything forward or not?0

Short answer, no. The maximum contribution you can get tax relief on is £23k. This will use £23k of your annual allowance from 2017/18.0
