Being asked to work for another company too

Could anyone with an HR background please advise me on my situation.
I have worked full-time for my current employer for almost 13 years as a FOH receptionist and have recently been promoted to an events coordinator. This role still comes under the facilities team as did reception.
The facilities manager wants to move me from FOH - which is fine and to be expected but wants me to move in to another building which we share with another company, and sit in their reception and deal with their deliveries, post, visitors and tell them (the other company) when I am away from my desk in meetings, for lunch or if I am going to be off.
I now feel I am being asked to work for two different companies, doing two different roles. I appreciate at the moment the events role would not keep me busy all day, every day and would be happy to do work for the company I am employed by but am a not very happy at having to do work and be answerable to another company.
Anyone able to tell me where I stand please? I feel very

You've been promoted, so presumably you expected more responsibility and remuneration. As you've climb the corporate ladder it's generally expected to show more flexibility and help tackle what needs doing.
It might be your company is getting paid or a getting a better deal on rent by asking you to do these other things.
In terms of reporting line, make sure your boss knows you report to them, not the other company.Originally Posted by shortcrust

Yes of course I expected more responsibility and remuneration and would be happy to do additonal duties for the company I work for.
I have asked my boss for a catch-up tomorrow to confirm about my line of report.
Still feels very strange to have me work for another company...0 -
If they wish to loan a member of staff to another company, that's up to them. Provided you are paid what is agreed by your employer, then the arrangements between the companies are up time them. It isn't unusual for such things to happen.jack290292 wrote: »Yes of course I expected more responsibility and remuneration and would be happy to do additonal duties for the company I work for.

You are working for your original company. That company is providing a service to the other one and you are the means by which it delivers that service. You are not working for two companies.0 -

As an events organiser you will hopefully find yourself working for lots of different companies whilst you are employed with your current one. Maybe this Front of House isn't what you were expecting but talk through your expectations with your boss and what they expect of you.
Congratulations on the promotion, makes a nice change to hear a positive story on here.Originally Posted by shortcrust
