Memphis ATM's

Hi all.
The wife is off to Memphis to do the Graceland thing.
I have a Halifax Clarity Card.
There are no cash withdrawal fees but obviously if the ATM company charge then there is a fee.
Does anyone know if it's the same there as here?
Ie, some charge some don't.
Just figuring out cash versus card.
Also, the card is in my name only. That wont affect ATN withdrawals but what's the law on purchases?
It's all done by PIN nowadays amyway but is it legal for a person to make a purchase with the card holders consent?
I have requested she be put on it but not sure it will be in time.
Cheers

Nearly all US ATMs charge a fee. Best approach is to minimise your need for cash and rely on purchases. If you do draw cash, one larger sum is more cost effective than several small withdrawals.
You might find credit unions or a McDonalds with cheaper or even free ATM but they are few and far between. I'm not sure I'd waste my time looking to save a couple of dollars.
If your other half uses your card to transact it's a clear breach of Halifax terms and conditions. Chip and pin is more common these days in the USA but signatures are often required.
In my experience retail staff there pay no attention to the name on the card or matching the signatures.0 -

I was in memphis last year and to be honest didnt really need cash for very much. Everywhere i visited accepted cards and you can obviously add tips to you bill. I did have some cash for tips where a transaction hadn't taken place but got this in the UK. From what i understand if you can find a HSBC or Santander ATM they do not charge a fee. Or she could apply for a staring account the whole process including receiving the card only took a week0
