  • She works full time, from what i know they have a decent amount of money put away,so should easily be able to afford to put some down (20k). The outstanding mortgage is around 50k so i cant imagine they will have any difficulty getting it sorted. They are seeing a mortgage broker tomorrow then maybe another at the end of the week, i am going to call her tomorrow and see how it went. Also going to drop in i fail an affordability test for a new mortgage so i cant get one until she sorts it out. Hopefully that will be the rocket she needs, i think i am being more than fair in not asking for anything as i just want to move on. Would it be reasonable for me to think (assuming she has seen the mortgage broker) the re-mortgage for her can be sorted by early December?

The lender will take it as an outgoing, if the mortgage you applied for then not affordable the other option is to condition the offer stating your name is to be removed prior to completion.
  • Hi, thought i would post an update, i saw my bank today about a mortgage, I have a mortgage in principle agreed with them for a decent amount, this is on condition of coming of the other property. I know the ex is applying to which mortgages for one and has agreed if cant get one will sell up.
So i guess i can almost see some light and the ball is in her court with a fair bit of pressure on her to give a swift forehand return back, will let you know how it goes....who know by the time it is sorted the interest rates might only be up to 5%! :rotfl:

  • Thanks Debtslayer, found it really interesting talking to the bank about my potential mortgage. They were quite impressed with my knowledge (all from this board! and a lot of mistakes), but what surprised me was how paying an extra £20 a month i could have a mortgage for 22 years rather then 25!! (or 24) seems a no-brainer. Will keep posting updates, cheers!
