Morgage application name change

Hopefully someone can give some advice. My wife is going through a morgage application and our morgage broker had advised her to apply in her previous name as there was no credit history for her new married name. She was accepted for the morgage by Santander. Now they say we need to provide identification of her new married name or they will have to resubmit the application. Has any one had any similar situations. We have submitted new ID but are still worried. Thanks

The only thing I can say is that your mortgage advisor is an idiot and I hope you're not paying him/her a fee?

Deeds (and applications) always have to be in legal names.

A copy of the marriage certificate should connect the two names and allow you to put the Mortgage in your wife’s current name.

Meantime the Broker should go back to Mortgage School. When applying lenders asks if you have recently changed your name and then can then score based on Susan Jones and Susan Smith rather than just Susan Smith.
